MY TRIP TO JAKARTA
.
It was a short trip but a good getaway. Most of my days were spent eating, shopping, watching dvds in my dad's apartment and following him around during his shop visits.
.
.
The shopping malls were huge and carries a wide variety of merchandise especially shoes. But not everything is cheap even with the ongoing sales. A simple pair of slippers at a departmental store can easily cost about S$30. As for food, most malls also have a number of good restaurants and I noticed that Singapore dishes seems to be on the rise as compared to my last visit 3-4 years ago. Then again, whether they're authentic or not is another thing. You just have to know where to get them.
.
By the way, their 'Singapore Yong Tau Foo' sucks. I don't even know if it's fish paste or glutenous that I'm eating. And the Indonesians seem to go nuts when it comes to donuts because they're people who actually queue to buy 3 dozens of donuts! So I couldn't resist and had to try them myself. Ring Master donuts are not bad but I heard that J.Co donuts is currently no. 1. :P
.
During my trip, I also visited Safari Indonesia. They didn't have as much variety as the Singapore zoo but I like the idea where the animals roam freely and you can feed and touch them from your car. I got to touch the zebra and it's so furry and soft. If only I could hide one in my handbag. HAHAHA!
.
Maybe I shall visit Bali again on my next trip. I just can't get enough of nature and I love sightseeing.

LIFE JOURNEY
.
Across my desk is a bookmark that says, "The course of true love never did run smooth." It was given by Grace but never for once did I take those words seriously.
.
However, just looking at it this evening suddenly made me realized that the course to fame, fortune and even nirvana never did run smooth too. Neither did Irene Ang and Steve Jobs' success came at the snap of their fingers.
.
More importantly, I think it is how you pursue your journey that matters. Whether you see the glass half full or half empty is a matter of choice but today, I told myself that no matter how hard life gets, I want to walk this journey with confidence. I have my friends and family whom I can turn to in times of difficulty. I am not alone and neither are they. At least we have each other and I think that is what I should learn to hold and cherish in life now.
.
You can never be certain when you will need them but in my heart, I know they will always be there for me.
.
Thank you. :)

PREPARING FOR TAKE OFF
.
I'll be leaving for Jakarta this Thursday and be back in a week. Although I should be excited about the trip, I haven't been able to sleep well lately and my left eye has been twitching for the past few weeks, which is normally not a good sign. I have already got my ticket, new passport and some money. The only thing left is to pack my luggage tomorrow and pray for a safe journey.
.
I'm on my own now. It can't be that hard to figure my way around the airport and the trip is only about 1.5 hours. What else is bothering me?! This is my first time feeling uneasy...

FATHER-DAUGHTER
.
I was expecting another hot and humid day when I got out of bed at 7.45am. I know it's so unlike me to wake up this early but this has been my routine for a couple of weeks and today, I had to buy some fruits and flowers for praying. Then again, this could also be a good sign that my body clock is adjusting back to SG time. Hahaha... Anyway, it rained heavily this morning and I got drenched but that is ok. After all, it feels good and refreshing getting wet once in a while.
.
My afternoon was spent with my dad. We did some shopping, munching and he bought me my favorite jam biscuits from Marks & Spencer! Upon reaching home, we shared a big bowl of muesli with freshly cut fruits and milk, specially made by dad. Just gazing at how dad painstakingly wash and cut the fruits suddenly made me realized how much time we've missed since I was about 10 years old.
.
Then again, would turning back time make any difference? He would probably still choose the same career path and I would still be too young to understand anything, maybe just enough to know that I should feel sad cause my daddy is going away.
.
If given a wish, I would wish for more time so that there'll be more opportunities for both father and daughter to spend time together. But until that happens, I rather think about how we're going to spend our day tomorrow, the day after and the next... :D

HAPPY MONDAY
.
Roy taught me cycling today and I still have yet to master the art of balancing after an hour of teaching. But what I liked best was when we rented the two-seater bike and cycled really fast from one end of Sentosa to another. I paddled hard while Roy did the balancing and turnings for me, and it felt awesome feeling the breeze against your face on a sunny Monday. A couple of heads turned and giggled though but that didn't stopped me from speeding. I'm just having a good time man!
.
Subsequently, we took the skyride and Roy dared me to lean beyond the railing and look down. So I attempted some sort of stretching exercise post and just then, Roy pointed and told me to look at the camera. But it was too late, I was caught in the act. He calls it the classic shot and I regretted not buying that picture, but I guess I was probably overwhelmed with embarrassment then.
.
Towards evening, we grabbed dinner at Subway and roamed around VivoCity till closing time. Then Roy invited me over to his place to meet Aka, his 1 month old Jack Russell. It was sweet, cute and adorable. He licked my hand so much till I think there is still traces of doggie breathe. Maybe he likes me salty especially after all that cycling and perspiring but I'm definitely no doggie food for him. Hahaha...
.
It was a scorching Monday and I'm a little more tanned than before. Well, at least we still had a great time today. Yippee!
