THE PEOPLE AT RITCHIE BROS.
.
Working at Ritchie Bros. became more enjoyable when managers from across the globe came to Singapore. Very friendly, fun and outgoing bunch of people. After the auction on 5th December, everyone was invited to dinner at Singa Inn, located at 920 East Coast Parkway. Since that night was probably the last time I will see Richard Tucker, I decided to shower and dress for the occasion.
.
Dinner was good and we had shark's fin soup, lobsters, prawns, chili and black pepper crabs, steamed fish, chicken and pineapple fried rice. However, no amount of good food could take my attention away from Richard when he sat right next to me. In fact, I enjoyed his company more than the food while some ate as if there were no tomorrow.
.
Time flies when you least expect it, especially when you are happy. Bidding farewell was a little sad for everyone but well, at least I got a farewell hug and peck on my cheek by Richard. And since that night, every other guy whom I have gone out with was instantly forgotten. Haha!
.
Richie Bros. really seems like a good company to work in. Steven Branch was with Ritchie Bros. since he was fifteen and have worked his way to what he is today - Divisional Manager. Sonja was an interior designer but ended up as an accountant at Ritchie Bros. since 1982 while Ringo, the Yard Manager said, "It is a really good company to work with except for one factor ." Haha! My girlfriends will definitely know what he meant by that.
.
On my last day at work, Ringo gave me the opportunity to ride the Komatsu HD 785 rock truck, that is worth US$290,000 and was the most expensive equipment sold during auction. Though it was slow probably due to the lack of air pressure, it was awesome! If there is a next time, I definitely got to try the faster moving truck as promised by Ringo. .
Shopping and dinner at Chinatown with Sonja and Sandy was memorable especially when it came to the part when Jodie made them both try durian. Compared to the Sour Warhead sweet, durian was really something. You should have seen their expression. Haha! "Yes, I'm a chicken, coward and everything else but I'm not going to try that thing." - Sandy
.
I could actually see a future with Ritchie Bros. and if given the opportunity, I would love to join them for the next auction. Darn, I am already missing Ritchie Bros!
